31 December 2005 - New Hanover
(37) and Sassamansville (68) firefighters we dispatched for a vehicle rescue in
front of Boyertown Junior High East. As Rescue 37 arrived it was decided by EMS
that a patient was going to be flown to the hospital via Med-Evac helicopter.
Rescue 37 proceeded to establish a landing zone in the parking lot of the
school. Engine 37 arrived shortly there after and assisted EMS with patient
packaging. Personnel at the landing zone assisted in transporting the patient to
the helicopter. As soon as the helicopter took off, the landing zone was broken
down and all fire units returned...only to get another call, number 2 for the
day, a few minutes later.

Later than evening, New Hanover
firefighters were dispatched to their third call for the day and their second
vehicle rescue. New Hanover was sent to assist the Upper Frederick (87) fire
company with a vehicle rescue on Hill Rd. By this time the road conditions were
very slick. Upon arrival of Rescue 37 the vehicle was already stabilized. New
Hanover firefighters used the Jaws-of-Life to free the singe occupant from the
vehicle. Once freed, the patient was transported by EMS to a waiting Med-Evac
helicopter.
