28 January 2006 - Firefighters
were dispatched to a residence in the area of Buchert Rd and Rhoads Rd for a
structure fire. Upon arrival the fire had been extinguished by the homeowner. A
spark from a low level fireplace vent with an improvised spark arrestor had
apparently allowed a spark out which caught the leaves in the area on fire. The
fire spread through the leaves onto the patio of the residence burning a set of
patio furniture and a plastic toy chest. The fire then extended up the exterior
wall into the eves. Firefighters checked for extension into the residence and
investigated the cause. Once complete, firefighters returned their equipment
into service and returned to station.
