House Fire May 23, 2005Click here to see some of the action 23 May 2005 - Just after two O'clock, the New Hanover Fire Company (37) and the Sassamansville Fire Company (68) were dispatched to a structure fire, reported to be the roof, on Rosenberry Rd. in New Hanover Township. Ladder 37 responded under the command of Deputy 37 (T. Harned). Upon ladder 37's arrival, light smoke was visible coming from the roof. Chief 37 (W. Moyer) was on location and assumed command. Command informed the crew of the ladder that the location of the fire was likely in the basement, however this was unconfirmed. An initial attack line was advanced through a door in the front of the structure to the basement door. An exterior crew vented the basement and the attack crew advanced down the stairway. Crews were met with heavy smoke and some moderate heat, but no flame. Crews continued to ventilate the structure and search for the fire. Additional crews performed a search of the structure and ventilated the roof. A small area of smoldering material was located and extinguished. There was a good amount of charring evident in the basement as well as smoke damage, but all in all the great teamwork of all crews on scene put an excellent stop on the fire. Crews were on scene under two hours venting, checking for extension, and cleaning up from the incident. Companies on location included New Hanover (37), Sassamansville (68), Ringing Hill (59), Gilbertsville (67), North End of Pottstown (69D), and Gilbertsville EMS (332). Thank you to everyone who assisted. Great Job! We finally finished the camera with the pictures we took.Return to Past Incidents Page updated 6 March 2006 |
