Structure Fire   October 21, 2006

21 October 2006 - Company 37 was requested to assist Company 65 (Pennsburg) on a working structure fire. Company 37 was assigned as the second RIT. A RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) is a team of firefighters who's job on the fire ground is to rescue firefighters who become lost or trapped in the fire building. Ladder 37 responded and staged in the parking lot of the CVS adjacent to the fire building. The crew from the ladder loaded up their stokes basket with the necessary equipment and went to their assigned staging location at the front of the fire building. Thankfully the team was not activated. During the incident, Ladder 37 was requested to the rear of the building to raise it's main ladder to the roof. Due to Pennsburg's location in the northwest corner of the county, multiple companies from three counties responded to the call including: Pennsburg (65), East Greenville (38), Red Hill (71), Lower Frederick (52), New Hanover (37), North Penn Goodwill (41), Boyertown (Berks 15), Hereford (Berks 58), and Bucks County 57. EMS units from Green Lane (328), Upper Perk (369), Lower Frederick (331), and Quakertown (Bucks 108) were all on scene for rehab and to provide medical care in the case a firefighter became injured. Green Lane (42), Sassamansville (68), Gilbertsville (67), and Bucks County 57 all provided stand-by coverage for the area.
