Vehicle Fire June
22, 2005

22 June 2005 - New Hanover firefighters were
dispatched to a vehicle fire. Sassamansville Fire Company (68) was dispatched
for one engine to assist. Police reported smoke showing from half of a mile away
and reported a working car fire upon arrival. Engine 37, under the command of
Deputy 37 (T. Harned) arrived on scene 3 minutes after responding. Firefighters
R. Reitnauer and J. Wood stretched a 1 3/4" hand line to control the
fire. Ladder 37 arrived on location shortly after the engine. A back-up
line was stretch by firefighters J. Lee and R. Miller and was used to control
the fire that extended to the lawn and assist in vehicle extinguishment. Ladder
37 supplied engine 37 with water. The fire was under control in 5 minutes. Units
were in service for just over 1 hour until the fire marshal completed his
investigation and the vehicle was removed from to roadway.
